Bridging the Gap: Ray’s Haven Marks IDPD with Strategic Support in Kaduna
Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is a call to action—a reminder that we must build a world that accommodates every unique ability. To mark this occasion, Ray’s Haven executed a strategic outreach initiative at the Open Arms Children Centre in Kaduna, a facility pivotal in educating children with developmental disabilities.
Our goal was twofold: to equip the students with specialized tools for development and to support the ecosystem of care that surrounds them.

Targeted Educational Support
Standard educational materials often fall short for children with unique learning needs. To address this gap, Ray’s Haven donated a suite of specialized sensory and educational resources designed to enhance learning outcomes:
Sensory Integration
We provided textured toys, visual aids, and musical instruments. These are essential tools for helping children regulate their sensory processing and actively engage with their environment.
Literacy & Expression
We stocked the centre with storybooks and art supplies, directly encouraging cognitive development and creative expression among the students.
Supporting the Frontline
A sustainable support system requires caring for the caregivers. Recognizing the intense emotional and physical labor required to run a safe, loving environment, we also donated essential food supplies to the staff.

It was our way of validating their crucial role in the disability advocacy framework. Caregivers are the backbone of this ecosystem, and their well-being is directly tied to the well-being of the children they serve.
Why This Matters
Our visit went beyond charity; it was an exercise in community building. By spending quality time interacting with the students and staff, we reinforced a core truth of our mission:
“Every child deserves tools that support their unique way of learning. Every caregiver deserves encouragement. And every community deserves inclusion.”
Ray’s Haven remains committed to ensuring that disability rights are not just observed once a year, but practiced every day.
